When Ms. Lydie searched for a ballet school for her own children in East London back in 2008, she quickly realised there were few options offering the level of quality training she envisioned. Driven by her lifelong passion for dance and her belief in its power to transform lives, she founded MyBallet Academy (formerly Hallsville School of Ballet) and later created MyBallet Community, a non-profit organisation dedicated to sharing dance with a wider audience.
Under her direction, MyBallet Academy has grown into a welcoming local ballet school where dancers of all ages receive high-quality ballet training. Alongside it, MyBallet Community brings people together through the power of dance, offering opportunities for enrichment, connection, and cultural engagement.
“Dance has the power to enrich lives, strengthen communities, and create lasting joy.”
Lydie leads a team of four talented and passionate teachers, all fully qualified in RAD and/or Rambert Grades & PBT, who share her commitment to excellence and creativity in teaching.
Her vision is simple yet powerful: to inspire individuals of all ages and backgrounds to discover the joy of dance. Through MyBallet’s diverse programs, she strives to nurture a deep appreciation of the art, while promoting health, well-being, confidence, and resilience.
More than just a school, MyBallet reflects Lydie’s enduring belief that dance has the power to enrich lives, strengthen communities, and create lasting joy. Nurturing a love of dance while providing solid technical training has led some of our students to incredible journeys; from advancing into professional training to performing as dancers in the wider world.
